i’m really torn between this “representing detroit” mentality. yes. you need to think your city is the shit for other people to start believing in it. but at the same time, when you don’t have much to really show for. maybe you should tone it down a little. even if you do have a lot to show for, do you really need to mention detroit every time?
imagine how annoying it would be for somebody keep mentioning where they are from every sentence they speak. like, ok i get it. but really nobody gives a shit. just be yourself and do what you are good at. then people will notice, oh you’re in detroit, that’s surprising… and maybe they’ll decide to check out detroit without you shoving it to their faces all the time.
the next semester i’ll have to address to this issue with charm and wisdom. so help me god.
